Mt Waverley Chess Centre
Open House Chess Club Friday nights, 7:15pm - 9pm
We have now closed the chess club at Wadham House and relocated to:
430 Huntingdale Rd
*Make up classes
All new families are required to pay a once-only $100 joining fee (per family) to join the club. This is fully transferable to any Chess Kids or Kids Unlimited classes or centres.
$195 per school term (1 class per week)
$360 per school term (2 classes per week)
$480 per school term (3 classes per week)
$600 per school term (4 classes per week)
Number of classes is calculated per family, so if you have two children, both doing 2 classes per week that is a total of 4 classes and each class will cost $150 per term.
Your first lesson is a no-obligation, free trial class, so come along and give it a go.
Some programs incur additional costs for materials, consumables or because the nature of the program requires additional time input by the tutors. These fees may change from term to term depending on the content of the program.
Training Squad Chess $40
Super Group Chess $80
Students who miss up to 3 classes during a term are able to do "make-up" classes. Make-up classes can ONLY be done on a Thursday and your coach will tell you what time you may attend.
Where possible we prefer to be notified of the absence by email at least 24hrs in advance.
From $40 per lesson. Duration of the lesson will depend on the age/ability of the student. Generally private lessons are 30 minutes.
For advanced students (rating 1000+) private lessons are ONLINE with a Master Level coach and last for 60 minutes.

Refer a Friend - it helps us and you get rewarded!
If you refer a friend to the club there are some great benefits. Firstly you will receive a $10 discount on all your classes for the next term. Then you'll get a free chess T-shirt from us as well.
Your friend will enjoy a 50% discount on the joining fee as well as a $10 discount on their class fees for the term!
We don't run "beginners" classes as such, we believe that any child can learn the basics in just a few hours and then benefit from our Novice classes. If your child is 8 or older then most likely they will learn all the basics during their initial trial lesson. For some children this won't be enough and we will encourage you to book 3-4 private lessons before joining a group. Children aged under 9 can also join the Saturday 10am class; this class focuses on the basics.
